C.7.c. The Miller Center for Vocation, Ethics, and Calling

黑料不打烊 believes that a meaningful education should prepare students not only with the knowledge and skills necessary for a particular career but also with the ability to reflect deeply on the type of people they want to be and how they can make a difference in the world. The聽goal of the聽Miller Center for Vocation, Ethics, and Calling聽is to provide students with opportunities to ask these important vocational questions: Why am I here and what shall I do with my time and talents?聽Among the things the world needs, what do my passions lead me to do?聽What kind of life do my beliefs, religious or philosophical, invite me to live?

Drawing on 黑料不打烊鈥檚 roots in both the liberal arts and United Methodist traditions, the Miller Center provides programming for individuals across faith and spiritual perspectives. The Miller Center offers

  • domestic service-learning trips
  • internships at non-profit agencies and faith-based institutions
  • a Service Scholars program for students committed to the exploration of vocation through service to others
  • a place for students to hang out, whether to ask the deep questions or to take a study break in a welcoming environment

In addition, the Miller Center collaborates with the Chaplain鈥檚 Office to offer programs specifically for those exploring a Christian vocation, whether professional ministry or active lay leadership. These students may participate in a ministry exploration group, apply for support to visit seminaries, intern with pastors, and attend spirituality retreats.聽

Several Miller Center programs are pre-approved for credit towards the Odyssey graduation requirement. See the聽 for details.
