What Can I Do With A Major In... ?

A degree in the liberal arts is the precursor to an overall better, more educated, and aware life. Sometimes students and their families are unaware of the opportunities in many different career fields that a liberal arts degree can foster, which can make the process of choosing a major at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ more difficult.

Helping you find the right path for your life after ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ â€“ starting with "What major?" – is something the Career Services staff is happy to discuss with any student. We can help you identify industries, careers, and positions that might best suit your individual skills and passions, then help you discern what majors might best support you in reaching your professional, career-related goals. Contact the Career Services Office to schedule a one-on-one appointment for assistance in your major exploration. Click the orange box below to explore career planning information and examples provided by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ departments and faculty.

These meetings are great opportunities to find out what ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ graduates go on to do with their liberal arts degrees! Through this program, students can get real-world advice from graduates with different majors who’ve gained experience in the work world and are eager to transfer that knowledge to current undergraduates. ACT mentors are always listed in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Today a week in advance for students to sign up.
    • Resource Library – The Career Services Resource Library in SLTC 238 is well stocked with books that outline different career paths, including job titles and employers, for nearly every major offered at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The library is open to students Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Though books cannot be checked out, the library has a comfy couch and armchair for you to use while browsing.

In addition to the Office of Career Services and the resources it provides, students are strongly encouraged to talk with their academic advisor when exploring different majors to pursue. The Office of Advising and Academic Success can assist in this area, as well.
