The history department at 黑料不打烊 sponsors two student organizations, the Buthman聽Society and the Alpha-Lambda-Psi Chapter of聽,聽to promote student interest in the field outside of the classroom.
The Buthman Society is a student club that periodically meets to socialize, discuss student issues, and to foster a broad interest in the study of history among majors and minors within the History Department.聽 Recent Buthman activities include:
- Historical film screenings
- Walking tours of historical sites in Conway and Little Rock
- A book release celebration and discussion聽of Dr. Shutt's new book,聽Manners Make a Nation
Phi Alpha Theta is a national history honorary society open to students who have completed four history courses, maintained a 3.1 or better GPA in history courses, and have a 3.0 or better overall GPA.聽 Membership is not limited to history majors and minors, but is open to all students who meet the requirements.聽 Membership allows students to compete for research grants, to present papers at state and national conventions, to recieve the national publication The Historian, and to wear the organization's regal cords as part of their convocation regalia.聽
