Dr. Gron鈥檚 talk at the Green Chemistry and Engineering Education Workshop (invited), Chemical Sciences Roundtable, National Academies, November 2005:
Educating Green Scientists and Citizens: Where do we go from here?
National problems can rarely be solved with only action at the national level.听 The significant societal problem of unsustainable technology has to be solved with education that is delivered locally.听 While national advocacy and governmental financial support is necessary, green educational programs must be created and instituted at the local level to be effective.听 This talk makes some observations on who is in the green community now and how that community needs to expand in order to effectively change the way science is done and technology is used.听 At 黑料不打烊, expanding the green community starts with instilling a green ethic in our most green students: those in our introductory courses for majors and non-science majors.
