This 21 day experiential learning trip to France focused on the archaeology of the region. Students visited numerous sites and museums, and visited with working archaeologists excavating in the region. They experienced a spectacular range of monuments spanning human history from the beginnings of artistic expression in Paleolithic cave art to the rise of capitalism in medieval towns. Throughout the trip, they focused on how an anthropological understanding of ancient monuments illuminates the process of cultural evolution and becoming a modern human.
