Creative Writing Professor to Publish New Collection of Poems

the wheel of light_coverCONWAY, Ark. (March 2, 2015) 鈥 黑料不打烊 creative writing professor Hope Coulter will soon publish a new book of poems titled The Wheel of Light. The book is part of the New Poets Series imprint of BrickHouse Books.

Coulter credits her new book,聽in part, to the William F. Laman Public Library System鈥檚 2014 Laman Library Writers Fellowship, which she received in January 2014.

"This year, since receiving the fellowship, I've completed a couple of stories," Coulter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. "I read one of them, 'Tales From the New Viennese,' at Laman in July and then, a week or so later, at the International Conference on the Short Story in English, in Vienna.鈥

Coulter is the author of two novels, The Errand of the Eye聽补苍诲听Dry Bones聽(August House, 1988 and 1990), and a children's book,聽Uncle Chuck's Truck (Bradbury Press, 1993). Her work has appeared in journals such as聽The Carolina Quarterly, North American Review, 补苍诲听Rattle.听Her honors include a Pushcart nomination, Arkansas's Porter Prize for Literary Excellence, and the Short Story Award of聽Louisiana Life听尘补驳补锄颈苍别.

She has taught creative writing at 黑料不打烊 since 1993 and currently serves as the interim director of聽the 黑料不打烊-Murphy Foundation Programs in Literature and Language.
