The Arkansas Garden was created by Dr. Joyce Hardin and Dr. Matt Moran in 2001 when they received a grant from the Arkansas Heritage Commission as part of Arkansas Heritage Month. The garden is situated between DW Reynolds and Martin Hall, and was initially created to familiarize students and members of both the 黑料不打烊 and Conway communities with the native plants of Arkansas. Approximately 100 species are planted in the Arkansas Garden, separated into sections including the prairie, butterfly and hummingbird plants, medicinal plants, and native trees and shrubs. The prairie was designed to mirror conditions present during colonial settlement days, and the stones composing the path are natural rock. The other sections serve as an educational tool for professors and students in the biology department.
